Aruba

I can't believe its been a year since we got married.
What an amazing time we had, family and friends from all over the world in town and one party after the other. We loved our wedding, the amazing venue and the beautiful weather.
We will never forget this day. 


For our first anniversary, I will be in Germany for work, such a bummer. 
We decided to celebrate a little early and went to Aruba for Labor day and spent four amazing days at the beach. 

We left Atlanta on Thursday morning after we both went to Chicago for three days for work. Different hotels, different areas and different airports. Very weird. A 4 hour flight in business class, how better to start a vacation.

The Holiday Inn that we stayed in (with points) was amazing. Three different pools, nice beachfront restaurants, amazing beach, turquoise water and right in the middle of all the buzz.

We laid at the pool, swam in the ocean and enjoyed the sunset every day.

On Friday we had an amazing dinner at a restaurant right next to the Aruba Lighthouse overlooking the ocean.


Saturday morning, we got up very early and went on a Jeep tour.
It went all over the island, we sat in the first row and the wind was blowing like crazy. My hair was a mess. I was glad I had a bikini on since my shirt did not stay in place and I couldn't do anything about it.

 We stopped at the Natural Pool, took snorkels and towels with us and made our way down.

After our tour was done, we enjoyed the rest of the afternoon in the ocean and the pool.


We went to the best Ribs place in town for dinner and lost a couple dollars at gambling afterwards. Oh well, at least my flight and our hotel nights were free.

Wing Chair Recovery - Part II

Only for those of you who already forgot how the wing chair looked when I first got it, here is a picutre which I took in the thrift store! For the amazing price of $18 it is all mine.   Too nasty to sit in, I first ripped off all of the fabric, (I'll spare you the details, since I blogged about that before ) layed the old fabric out, cut the new fabric pieces a little bigger than the old ones and made little fabric piles. I bought about 9' of fabric online at http://www.fabric.com/  I kept all of the old buttons, cut little circles and sewed fabric on each of them. I can tell you, that was my least favorite part.    After all 27 buttons were done, the back seat was the first piece that I re-buttoned.   The buttons go all the way through the fabric and cushion - the back part gets spread apart and rests on the foam. My new toy..

Last week when we picked up our new dining room table at Borders, I became the lucky owner of a CRAFT ROOM! I’m still so excited about it. My own private room where I can have all my little projects lined up and organized, or just all of them messy, laid out in the room with the door shut. You already think, what does this have to do with a new dining room table? Let me tell you! J We had this spare room before and couldn’t decide what we are going to do with it. We have two guest bedrooms upstairs, one already furnished for guests the other one empty. We were thinking about renting one room, but I’m just not that kinda girl. I need my privacy and want to lay on the couch whenever I want to, without a stranger in my house. I thought about a baby’s room – but I guess that is a little too early. The Nursery - Final reveal

  I know you couldn't wait any longer to find out if we are going to have a boy or girl. I don't keep it any longer from you, I promise.   Both of us wanted a boy, but really just a healthy little baby is all we asked for.   Since I don't count to the younger childbearing generation anymore, there were some tests that I had to do. One of them is for down syndrome. Scary stuff, let me tell you. With that test though, you can find out the gender and when I received the call with the results, I immediately started crying. Happy and over the moon that the baby is completely healthy but totally in shock that it is a.... CAN YOU SAY BOY???   No wonder I have hair growing like crazy in my face, all this testosterone in me probably doesn't help the weirdest pregnancy outcomes.
