Coffee table turned Ottoman

Image
I had an idea for a while now but unfortunately there are not enough hours in one day to complete all of what is on my to do list.    Finally I locked myself in the basement this past weekend and in just a couple of hours, my idea was transformed to reality.    I used an old coffee table (38"x38" square) we bought years ago from a Thrift store. Since then it's home was in the basement and was used to put paint cans on it, saw some wood and collect dust.      I cleaned it up a bit and hammered leftover 1x4's into the sides for more stability but also to reduce the gap from the top to the legs.     I carried the table outside to spray paint the legs white. Already hearing the thunder I had to be fast. It didn't take long, and the table had to come back inside.      While the legs were drying I took an electrical knife and cut the foam to si...

Ammunition Side Table

What a nice hot day it was today. After a busy morning and a two hour nap I woke up with the sun in my face, looked outside and it was pouring. What a weird combination. Even Toby and Steele were so confused that they went outside and laid in the yard not knowing what was wrong. So I decided that there is no better time than now to start on a little craft project.   I looked through our wooden pile in the basement and grabbed some plywood, left over table legs, the  Ammunition box that we got at an auction (for $17.00) and some pallet wood.     Our local hard ware store cut me the legs to size, since I don't have a good saw yet to cut them myself. I measured the plywood and cut it to the same size as the Ammo box. With a couple screws, the legs were attached onto the plywood.     I stained the legs and the plywood in Dark Walnut, laid the Ammo Box up side d...

Wine Cork Wreath

I don't drink. Its hard to believe that those words are coming out of my mouth, isn't it? I drank a LOT when I was younger, but about 4 years ago I started to react allergic. First just to wine, then to liquor and now a days, to about everything on the planet. It sucks. Hanging around in bars is no fun anymore, if you are the only one sober. Don't get me wrong, I do drink from time to time, have tissues and Benadryl nearby, but I can't really enjoy it (with a runny nose and problems to breathe). I do love wine corks though. Thanks to a few friends, I'm still able to get corks. :)   I already made a chalkboard/cork sign which is hanging at the entry way of our cabin.     I still had a few laying around to play with.     On Pinterest I found a pretty cool cork wreath and thought that it would look nice on the front door of our cabin.   I bought a Styrofoam wreath, took my glue gun out and got to work. ...

The messiest craft room in town

Image
Almost 4 years ago, when we moved into our house, I claimed one of the bedrooms my craft room. I took our old dining room table, which sat 8 and made it my craft oasis. Every couple months I had to unclutter my little heaven to have it look tidy and nice. And it worked until we bought our cabin and my craft table had to become a dining room table again. Bye bye table. Now that I had no table to use anymore, my crafting slacked and everything landed on top of each other on the floor. I quickly ran out of space. 4 months later, it was time to do something about it. Brian was gone for a week and I started tackling the room. I bought two cubbies from Walmart for $49.00 each, assembled them and took my old cubby from Ikea to place in the middle. I wanted a huge table.    Over a year ago we drove around the neighborhood and stumbled across a door leaning on a tree with a sticker on it "Free to good home". I consider us a pretty good ...
