Craft Room

Image
Most weekends are for cleaning the house and digging in the yard, others are for organizing and making the house look nicer. This past weekend was a little of all. I spent some time in my craft room to declutter and organize. Sorted through boxes of fabric, craft material, buttons, ribbons... I still get a smile on my face every time I glance at my wing chair My dress form, which I took home from one of our trade shows. It was meant to go in the dumpster and I just couldnt let that happen. My painted dresser  with lots of little sewing materials on it. My beach themed pod, which has a candle in it. My first ever yard stick (I always wondered what people do with those in the yard! LOL) My craft table with my -oh so loved Silhouette Cameo and Sewing Machine and my fabric covered pinboard  with lots of projects I wanna do. Wooden boxes, which came from my german grandma (tons of really cool and old sewing goodies in it) Starbucks glas bottles f...

Homemade Dog Cookies

Image
Have you ever made dog cookies before? ME NEITHER. I have the feeling I'm turning into one of THOSE people. I can't stop thinking about my little boys. They are just the cutest ever and I never thought I will fall head over heel in love with some dogs. I always liked dogs, but was scared of big dogs, was dreaming of sometimes maybe have a lab but never thought about two or even in the near future.. until 8 weeks ago. Life sometimes changes so quickly, you don't have a lot of time thinking about it and all the sudden it is totally different but you can't picture yourself without them anymore. Anywho.. I was stumbeling across a recipe of Peanut Butter DOG Cookies and since I love to bake I thought I give it a try. You will need: 2 Cups whole-wheat flour 1 tbsp baking powder 1 Cup peanut butter 1 Cup milk Preheat oven to 375F. In a bowl, combine flour and baking powder. In another bowl, mix peanut butter and milk, then add to dry ingredients and mix well. ...

Different shades of Grey

It is so hard for me to come up with art for our house. So many high ceilings, and so much space to put pictures, that I'm overwhelmed and just don't put anything up. Months ago I saw an episode of one of HGTV's shows. There was a designer who just put oil paint on a spoon and smashed it on canvas. He created the coolest art ever. I loved those pictures. I went to Michaels, bought some canvas and paint, took a spoon and spooned painted 6 different colored flowers on it while watching Sex and the City. Not sure if I got distracted or what, but in the end I put them in a drawer deep down, so nobody would find those. I forgot about them until it was time to declutter drawers.  What do you think? Better hidden in the drawer, right!   The texture of the pictures is really cool, you can see it in the below picture. Since I'm a   little obsessed with grey right now, I mixed 6 different shades and just like that changed the colors of all t...

I was invited to my friend Elisabeth' bridal shower this past Saturday. Besides some gifts from BBB I wanted to give her something personal/special. I was looking around blogland to find an idea and stumbled across this website . Elisabeth is the best cook ever. She is making dinner plans for the week and is cooking a lot of amazing meals.. Since she is a passionate cook, I wanted to give her something related to that. When I saw the little whisk earrings I knew these would be the perfect gift. Check out the full tutorial here You will need the following tools: Beading Wire (I used 20 gauge) Hook Wire Earring Findings  Needle Nose Jewelry Pliers Small Dowel (I used a paint brush) Wrap the wire around your dowel (7-10 times) make sure they are really tight and close together.
