The Adventures of a German Girl

A little wardrobe update was needed. After cleaning up all of my fabric, I found several pieces I wanted to work with. Since I tried to sew several dresses in the past and non of them were anywhere near wearable, I didnt even bother taking pictures along the way. It turnes out I made three pieces which might be worn more than ones. My new 3 colored purple dress a black and white polkadot skirt                                    and last but not least a yellow dress                                       I'm getting a little more confident and already have some red fabric laying on the floor, ready to take some measurements. Let's see how this one will turn out. Stay tuned.

Floating around on the internet I found instructions on creating a pearl ring. Of course I have no idea any more where I found it, but it was stuck in my head. So when coming home I went into my craft room and sorted through some boxes. I found a pearl, some wire, grabbed a wooden stick (which I think is to fix holes in socks) some scissors and a pair of pliers. I cut about 20" of wire, feed the wire through the hole of the pearl and stop in the middle of the wire. Take your wooden stick and lay the wire around two times on each side. Take it off and try it on to see if you need to make it tighter or bigger. When you found the right size, start to wrap one side of the wire around the pearl a couple times and end it by wrapping the leftover wire on one side. Make sure it is really tight. Use your pliers to tighten it up. Wrap the other side of the wire around the other side of the pearl to get the ring part tight, and done. Such an easy project, it took 5 minutes and I a

Cooler ( 78Degrees) rainy weather made me think of new pillows for the fall. Collected left over fabric from our exhibitors in New York turned to 9 different style pillows for the Formal - and Living room.   It took one rainy sunday to make it all happen. All of them are envelope pillows with different front and backs to switch out easily to either change or wash them. Number 1                                                Number 2 Number 3 and 4  All 4 new pillows piled up for the formal living room Then we have some more for the living room, including the two I made the day before. So actually I have 11 new ones in total! :) ...but who is counting. Number 5 and 6 Number 7 and 8 Number 9 Number 10 Number 10 and 11 Now there is hopefully time to just lay on the couch and enjoy all those soft shiny new pillows. Is it Friday yet?

I found this little guy over at our local thrift store this past weekend. It was just $7.50 and I saw all his beauty! :) Brian thought I'm crazy and asked me about three times if I'm serious about taking it home. I was very serious and it took about two minutes (until I had all my tools together) to start working on it.  Taking off that flowerly layer of fabric, a nice orange ottoman came to present. Ugh.. One layer of batting to make the cushion a bit more stable I chose a beige fabric with black print (which I received by mistake from Jo-Anns couple months ago and was able to keep it for free) Turning the ottoman over and starting to staple the fabric to the bottom. Of course Steele helped me. Working all four sides until all of the fabric is tucked away underneath.    I love it, it gives our couch and the living room a little more style. Of course I had to sew two matching pillows with the leftover fabric. On

Isn't s ignage always a plus? My american parents bought a beach rental house in Florida. A beautiful home directly on the beach. It is the same style as the 14 others next to it. Unfortuntely if you sit on the beach and want to go back, you better count houses, because they just all look alike. BJ, my american mom asked me a while back if I could help her create a sign for it. I love creating signs - I was all in. Instead of helping her, I decided on giving it to them for their 25. Wedding Anniversary this past August. I bought some ply wood 2'x3' in size, cut vinyl letters with my silhouette, painted the complete board with a creamy outside paint and stuck the letters on it when it was dry. Peeling off the backing and making sure everything sits in place, I painted over all of it with dark green Let it sit for a couple of minutes,  then carefully remove the letters. After two coats of outside wood sealer, it was done
